Repatriation flights resume this week

The next repatriation flights to bring in Tuvalu nationals who were stuck in Fiji because of the current State of the Public Health Emergency and the country’s lockdown are expected to arrive this week. The secretary to Government and Chairman of the Coronavirus Task Force, Dr. Tapugao Falefou told Tuvalu Paradise News this morning that the next flight which is the second repatriation flight will arrive on Wednesday, 16th September and the third flight to arrive the following day, Thursday, 17th September 2020.

The Manager of local company that is responsible for refueling the planes, Mr. Mika Elisaia said the Ministry of Transport has confirmed to him to prepare to refuel the plane when it arrives on Wednesday. This means that the fuel truck that was inspected by an engineer from Fiji that arrive on the first repatriation flight last week is satisfied with the current condition of the truck as well as the aviation fuel.

The Director of Aviation, Mr. Uiga Pailate said the flights this week will be full flights from Fiji as well as the return flights.
