No patients was uplifted on today’s return flight

The second repatriation flight arrtived today from Fiji with 65 Tuvalu passengers incuding some of Tuvalu patients who were referred to India and to Fiji before the lockdown in March 2020. Unfortunately, no Tuvalu patients who were expected to refer abroad travel on today’s flight travelled.

The Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Gender Affairs, Dr. Kepa Siose together with the Director of Aviation, Mr. Uiga Paelate confirmed this story.

Mr. Pailate explained to Tuvalu Paradise News that Fiji’s Health Ministry required that all travelling patients have medical certificates and official approval from the Fiji Health Ministry. This is a new requirement and the Health Ministry is trying to comply with the new requirement, hoping that some of the patients may be able to travel on tommorrow’s flight,
