Hymn competition culminates independence celebrations

Tuvalu’s 42nd Independence Anniversary culminated in a hymn competition between choirs from the EKT’s 5 congregations on the capital. The choir competition was held immediately after the independence special service at the Tausoa Lima Falekaupule.

The congregation represented the churches: Funafuti, Fa’kai Fou, Vaiaku, Lofeagai and Kavatoetoe.

During the completion, the quests showed their appreciation of the hymns by standing up and making tips to the hymn conductors.

At the end of the competition, Rev Tofiga Falani spoke on behalf of the Head Office of the Ekalesia Kelisiano Tuvalu and all the five EKT congregations thanking the choirs for participating in the competition.

The Prime Minister, Hon Kausea Natano also delivered a speech thanking the Ekalesia Kelisiano Tuvalu on behalf of government especially to the choirs for a very beautiful performance.

Hon Kausea also presented cheques of AU$500 each to the participating choirs as a gift in respect of the 42ndIndependence Anniversary.
