Ministry of Education reviews secondary school curriculum

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports is undertaking a review of the Motufoua Secondary School, said Deputy Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Temetiu Maliga.

Three local consultants have been engaged to work on this review: Mr. Tito Isala, Mr. Penehuro Hauma and Mr. Kata Pulusi.

The consultants have visited the island of Vaitupu and they are expected to do their work in Funafuti.

There are two secondary schools in Tuvalu, Motufoua Secondary School located on the island of Vaitupu and is a government school and the Fetuvalu Secondary School owned by the Ekalesia Kelisiano Tuvalu but financed by the government.

The two schools follow two different curriculums: Motufoua Secondary School follows the curriculum used by the Fiji Secondary Schools and has been in use by the school for many years, and the Fetuvalu Secondary School follows the University of Cambridge’s International General Certificate of Secondary Education.
