MEYS OPENS TWO TRAINING WORKSHOPS FOR TEACHERS

The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, Mr. Temetiu Maliga, opened two training workshops on Monday, 07 December 2020. The two training were the Taupulega ‘Lei Certificate Course and the TVSD Refresher Course and participants were primary school teachers for the ‘Taupulega ‘Lei Certificate and TVSD teachers for the Refresher Course.

In his opening remarks Ag. CEO, Mr. Maliga said, “these trainings are intended to build up your capacities and potential to become great school teachers and TVSD teachers in order for quality education to be sustainably produced and to pass-on knowledge and skills to all the current and future generations of Tuvalu.

“A quality education in all our schools will mean a quality current life and future for all generations for Tuvalu, a quality citizen for Tuvalu who is holistically developed. Tuvaluans who are not only competent in the mind, but the soul and body as well, Tuvaluans who are not only competent in the mind, but the souls and body as well. The achievement of such, depends on the education system that has competent and effective human resources at the system level and the school level.”

Mr. Maliga also thanked the Government of Australia for the continuous technical and financial support through the Australian High Commission to Tuvalu and the Coffey Facility.

Colleagues from abroad also join in the training by zoom and those in the Education Department and local ASET.

The program ends on Friday, 11 December 2020.
