A number of local businesses took the opportunity offered by the Government to sell their products today at the Tau Market that opened this morning at the Vaiaku Falekaupule. The market was organized jointly by a number of various organizers like the Business Department, the Trade Department, the Tuvalu National Private Sector Organization (TNPSO), the Funafuti Kaupule and the Gender Affairs’ Office.

The main purpose of the market was to provide an opportunity for small local businesses who cannot  afford proper registration to sell their products especially local products like local grown produces, food and handicrafts and to earn money for themselves.

The Business Officer, Ms. Petesa Finikasoo explained that all costs involved in the Tau Market like the hire of the venue, the cost of tables, the entertainment were all met by the organisers and the businesses and local producers have nothing to worry about except to get their products to the venue, the Vaiaku Falekaupule.
